Wooden object develops the “fairytale” vector of the author. Tales and myths are so attractive for they often deal with another world. Since the very beginning they do enrich the human perception, help to realise, and accept, the complexity of our existence in this material world. The author explores the mythological universe - its contents and inhabitants, but also his own reactions to these always new encounters. The objects represent his fantasies, affected by merely human pop-cultural clichés.
Mermaid’s nudity provokes a conversation about fragility and risk at the point where the two worlds meet. The element of water brings in the feeling of depth and permanent exchange of energies. Feminine aspect that involves cultural connotations of particular sensuality is confronted with the undeniable courage exhibited by the traveler between the elements.
The artist reflects upon the responsibility for the act of summoning the energies and entities from the other, presumably purer world, to the one we have created for ourselves. Wood is chosen for its properties in relation to water - a promising medium to convey the idea of interconnectedness and co-existence.
